I started doing underwater photography in 1975 (diving honeymoon) in Jamaica with a Konica C35 in a marine housing using a remote flash system with AG 1 flash bulbs. Through the years I have progressed with various underwater Camera systems including Nikonos III, Nikonos Vs and various housed film systems. I recently converted to all digital and shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III in a Nexus housing with dual Ikelite DS 161 strobes. I also do underwater video and have used various systems in Sony housings or a Light and Motion Mako housing. My current video system is a Canon HF G-30 in a Light and Motion Blue Fin housing with Dual Keldan video lights.
Over the past 40 years my wife and I have been taking diving vacations all over the world to various destinations. This includes the Red Sea, through-out the Caribbean (Roatan, Guanaja), the Caymans (Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac), Bonair, Curacao and Klin Curacao, Belize, Bahamas (Freeport and San Salvador), Haiti, Jamacia, St. Croix, Saba, St. Lucia, Turks and Caicos, Micronesia (Palau and Yap), Fiji, Paupa New Guinea, Sipidan, the Solomon Islands, the Andaman Sea (Similan Islands and the Burma Banks), the Great Barrier Reef, the Philippines, and various locations in Indonesia (Raja Ampat, Komodo, and the Wakatobi Islands). My website includes images from many of these locations around the world.
I have never taken any underwater photography courses. I have simply learned by using trial and error, reading underwater photography books, examining various professional divers' shots and analyzing their approach and technique.
